Scrotal Surgery – Epididymal cyst excision, Epididymectomy, Hydrocele repair.
A number of benign scrotal pathologies can affect men. Usually these appear later in life.
Removal of epididymal cysts or hydroceles (fluid around the testis) are easily treated with a small skin incision as a day case procedure.
These should be differentiated from lumps originating from the testis itself or hernias that might have similar symptoms and appearance but the management is completely different.
Any scrotal swelling requires an urgent assessment by a qualified urologist.
If malignancy is suspected treatment usually involves removal of the testis through a groin incision as a priority.
